About Ruby and Wilson ~ Cav and Mal (on trial 18/8/19)
I would like to introduce the two most gorgeous little dogs you will ever meet, Ruby and Wilson. Ruby is a 7 yo female Cavalier and Wilson is a 7 yo male Maltese x West Highland White Terrier. They are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together.
Ruby and Wilson were surrendered together due to ill health in their family of origin and they could no longer care for these little ones. They were very loved and it was a very difficult decision for their family. During their time with their family, they were mainly outside dogs and were secured away at night in their bed in the garage.
On arriving at their foster carers home, both Ruby and Wilson have taken to the inside life very, very quickly. To be honest, they are somewhat reluctant to step foot outside as snuggling on one of the beds at the house is far more preferable. As such, toilet training is an issue. It takes a lot of time and perseverance to get them to not only go outside, but to also toilet. It has not been uncommon for them to go out, look at some bushes, re-enter the house and wee!
Thankfully, these two are incredibly cute and cuddle and much is forgiven. Ruby is the quieter of the two and is a very chill lady. She is content to sleep away her day and can be quite persistent in letting you know it’s time to go back to bed. Wilson on the other hand is a whirlwind of energy. He is a funny, charismatic but demanding little man who will position himself on his back legs in front of you until some pats comes his way. And once he has sucked you into one pat, be prepared for the rest of the day to be taken up with rubbing his belly and carrying him around like a newborn baby.
Both Ruby and Wilson are very food motivated. They are the first to finish their tea and are usually scouting for more. And they are not too fussed about what they eat either, dry or wet. Ruby, however, will become cranky if another foster dog comes near her. She will also guard bones etc and become territorial with them.
Since being in foster care, both dogs have had their vaccinations and both needed some dental work and teeth removed.
Both dogs love to go for a walk and do tend to lead. However, as they are very small and not very strong, they do not pull too much. They also tolerate travelling in a car but happier to be in a cage or harnessed in the rear seat.
These two little guys are absolutely gorgeous. They get on beautifully and play together for ages. They are great with older kids. I would not suggest these dogs to families with young children due to their small size and could easily be dropped or stood on They will need ongoing maintenance with their fur. Ruby is a shedder so will need regular brushing. Wilson will need regular clipping to keep him comfortable.
Bear in mind that these two will need consistent and patient work with toilet training. Please consider this when applying. They will need to be inside dogs and you may have many accidents before they get the hang of toileting outside.
