About Bear ~ Kelpie x (on trial 27/6/19)
Bear is an incredibly sweet and gentle 5 year old male Kelpie x (Labrador? Wolfhound? Collie? You decide). All we know is that he is HANDSOME!
Bear came into care only a few short weeks ago, with not a lot of history for us to tell you his story. We have gotten to know him as an EXTREMELY easy going, and loving boy. All he wants in the world is a companion to love and a daily walk.
He is incredibly loving and affectionate. He will require a home who will allow him to hang inside as part of the family - who will let him snuggle up on the lounge beside you while you watch TV.
Bear is a quiet boy who we have never heard bark, which is a shock in our loud yappy household! He is not a digger or an escape artist and usually lays around in the sun while we head to work. Is he an angel?
Bear is an absolute ease to walk, often with the lead being slack as you stroll along. He is not overly active but will benefit from a daily stroll and sniff. He also has excellent recall, and will never stray too far from you.
Bear gets along well with his foster brothers and sisters. He knows the small dogs are the boss, and loves to wrestle around with his foster brother who is also Kelpie x. He doesn't however, mind hanging around by himself too - choosing to stretch out and snooze on mum's bed on lazy Sunday mornings. He would do well in a home with or without other dogs, as long as he receives the attention and stimulation all dogs need.
Bear has been tested around children and is very gentle, he does not mind their curious hands or high pitched giggles. He does however, get a little excited before the early morning walk and while endearing, he sometimes jumps. This is something that should be considered if adopting with small children.
Bear is mostly toilet trained, however he has not yet figured out the dog door and sometimes marks as many undesexed males do when initially entering a household. He has had no major accidents, and will hold on until you let him out in the mornings.
Bear can often be a little timid, and gets frightened of yelling or loud noises. He often crouches right down into the ground if he believes he is in trouble. He would need to be placed into a household that understands he may have not had the best start to life and to ease him into the home gently with a soft touch.
He has not been tested around pocket pets or cats and is not suitable to be adopted into a home with chickens.
All round, Bear is an amazingly easy boy and is will slot right into his new family as if he was always there. Bear is in the process of getting his vet work done and will be available for adoption soon.
