Simba

Hi! I'm Simba, and I've just arrived in the SAFE program after being saved by the rangers. Simba means lion in Swaheli. I'm more of your Wizard of Oz sort of lion - you know, not much courage! I'm timid when I first meet people, but once I'm handled by them, I love it and am very friendly. They tell me I'll get a permanent home where I'll get lots of this cuddling. Wow! That is so exciting! I'm looking for a calm sort of home, with lovely routine. I've never had routine before, but I hear it's a super good thing for dogs. I'm very skinny and hungry but they tell me I'll be fed a couple of times a day from now on. My life is going to be AWESOME!

I've just moved into my foster home, so there'll be info coming about my personality soon.

Want to know more about how you teach a pup to be a great dog? I'd like to do training every day so that I learn the commands of sit, stay, come, down, no, stop and leave it. And once I've learnt them, I need to keep practicing them every day too. That way I'll learn to obey what you tell me to do. Being consistent and clear with your boundaries will mean I always know the right way to behave. Getting out to exercise at least once a day (and twice for working dog breeds) is vital to stimulate my brain and body. It creates important opportunities for me to meet strangers, other dogs and other animals, plus it tires me out! Tell me "no" if I'm chewing something I shouldn't and give me a chew toy instead. I'd love to have a range of chew toys that you can swap around so I don't get bored with them.
