About Star
Name: Star
Breed: German Pointer mix
Age: 6 years
Sex: Female
Dog Friendly: Yes
Child Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Toilet Trained: Yes
Location: Alexandra Hills, QLD
Star is truly a gentle giant! She is very calm and gentle.
Star is great with other large breed dogs, she loves to fall in behind a second dog and let them be boss.. she often ‘grooms’ her current male companion (a 70kg mastiff) with licks.
She has no food aggression at all and will stick to her own food bowl now that she knows she will be fed daily. She will wait her turn for snacks and she knows to shake both paws before she can eat dinner.
Whilst Star is on the taller side, she is very gentle with children. You can remove a ball from her mouth and she drops it immediately. She isn’t a tug of war kind of girl..
She shines with positive attention and snack rewards. She loves to play ball and is learning to bring the ball back. She handles kids bumping to her and she doesn’t grab on to people and ‘bite play’. This makes her a good addition to a family that mixes dogs and kids in the back yard.
She just loves people and very much wants to be a member of the family.
She does feel the cold so likes to be on her dog bed inside at night. She will come and let you know if she needs to go out to the toilet at night. Which isn’t often if you let her out before bed.
She is now at a healthy weight of roughly 40kg.
Star is not suitable with cats or small animals.
She LOVES the car.. and would suit an individual or couple who like to take their pets with them to cafes or dog parks.. Star is keen to please her humans.
Star loves to walk up to her seated humans and put her paw on their knee. She also loves to sleep at her humans feet while they watch TV..
Medical notes
Due to Star's older age, she does have some slight arthritis located in her elbow joints. At this present time she does not require any treatment however she may need some joint formula in the future.
Star has had the following vetwork completed:
~ Desexed
~ C5 Vaccinated
~ Microchipped
~ Heartworm Tested
~ Heartworm Treated
~ All-Wormed
~ Flea Treated
Adoption details
~ ADOPTION PROCESS ~
STEP 1: An Adoption application MUST be filled out prior to the meet and greet with the animal.
** PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT DO INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS ** We require all animals to have a meet & greet with their new family before they are officially adopted, no exceptions. If you are willing and able to meet the dog in person, we are happy to accomodate the adoption.
STEP 2: If successful, our foster carer will be in touch within 24-48 hours.
STEP 3: A 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place. You must bring your current dog along to the meet and greet if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption. If meeting a cat we do not recommend brining your current dog/cat as this may stress the cat/kitten out.
STEP 4: The animal MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGED (travelling over a 4 hr round trip), we will NOT ACCEPT the animal to be taken on the day if less then 2 days notice is given. If prior arrangement is made, an adoption agreement/s and payment must be made before collection of the animal.
STEP 5: A 10 day trial period commences once the animal has been collected from the foster carer.
STEP 6: The Adoption is the finalised after 14 days and paperwork is sent via email after this period. Please note this can take up to 4 weeks pending on the microchip paperwork.
Sorry we can’t take calls, as our rescue is run entirely by volunteers, but we endeavour to respond to your email within 24 - 48 hours. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
** PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT HOLD ANY ANIMALS SO PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT NOW. **
