About Oscar ~ Cattle dog x ~ On Trial 14/9/19
I’m Oscar - a playful and cheerful 4 year old Cattle Dog x German Short haired Pointer. I am a total people dog who loves spending time my family members both young and old. I’m great at meeting new people and want to be everyone’s friend. I smile a lot and wag my tail a lot and am really quite adorable (so everyone says!)
Two of my favourite things are water and toys - I adore splashing about in water with my toys. On a hot summers day I’ll paddle in a clam pool in the yard to cool myself down. If you live near a lake or the beach I would be in my element - happily joining you for walks or runs along the sand or around the neighbourhood. I’m a whizz at playing fetch - bringing balls and other toys back to you so that you can throw them for me again.
I would thrive with an active couple or family who want a true companion and are keen to include me in their daily activities. I have lived with 4 other dogs (including 3 little dogs) - and I loved all but one of them (Roxy and I didn’t always see eye to eye - but hey, it’s hard to please all the ladies!). I’m very playful with the dogs that I’m buddies with - we play rumbles and games of chasies and I don’t mind if they boss me around. At times I’m selective with some dogs that I meet so my new family will need to be aware of this . Given that I’m so people focused I would really suit a home where I’m the only fur-child so that I can happily hog all the attention for myself !
I am fabulous with children!! I’m in foster care with two children under 4 years and I’m delightful with them . They throw the ball for me and I could play that game with them all day long . I’m super gentle taking treats from the kids and don’t jump up on them at all. Occasionally I give them a loving kiss on the face or a happy whack of my wagging tail (I don’t mean to whack them - it’s just me being a happy tail wagger!)
I’m currently living in a huge yard on small acreage and I love having room to gallop around in . I’ll keep myself entertained whilst my foster family is out - alternating between playing with my toys or lazing about in the sun. When my humans come home I’m so excited to see them - I get lots of pats and rewards for being so good.
I really am a loyal and loving boy who will win you over with my good manners and sparkling personality. I am very much a people dog who is loved by everyone who meets me - I am only being rehomed due to my old owner being ill.
For more information or to meet me, please contact us on email rescuepooch75@gmail.com . I am in foster care near Tuggerah, NSW 2260 (Central Coast).
My adoption fee is $300 and includes my desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
I do have Oesteo-arthritis in my rear leg despite my young age - I’ve had surgery and have previously been on carprofen injections which helped me so much. Now my arthritis doesn’t affect my day to day activities much - my new family just need to be mindful not to let me over-exert myself during play.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
