About Diesel
Diesel is an adorable little boy, who loves everyone. Whilst he may not make the best alert dog, he would make a lovely family dog. He is currently in foster care with a Great Dane and gets along famously with his foster brother. Despite his small size, he can hold his own, however he is still respectful and doesn't try to be 'top' dog of the pack.
His friendly nature extends to park time and he is very sociable to other dogs he meets. He loves playing 'chase' and squeaky toys are one of his favorite playthings. When playtime is over he enjoys cuddles next to his humans on the couch or in his bed, amongst his toys.
As a young puppy Diesel is energetic, bouncy, and still learning his manners. He needs a home willing to invest the time and effort to take him to training, and daily exercise and play to keep his brain stimulated and body healthy. He is a smart boy with a great capacity to learn, and has already picked up basic commands and house training very quickly.
Diesel is steadily learning not to jump up on or mouth his humans, as puppies like to do... For this reason, he would be best suited to a home with primary-aged children or older who would be more confident around an excitable dog and able to be consistent with boundaries. Ideally, his family would be home for at least part of the day, or he would a have a doggy companion to keep him company during the day when his family are at work or school.
It's always hard to know with rescue pups and mixed breed pups just how big we'll grow to, so SAFE has estimated the size I'll be when I'm fully grown.
Want to know more about how you teach a pup to be a great dog? I'd like to do training every day so that I learn the commands of sit, stay, come, down, no, stop and leave it. And once I've learnt them, I need to keep practicing them every day too. That way I'll learn to obey what you tell me to do. Being consistent and clear with your boundaries will mean I always know the right way to behave. Getting out to exercise at least once a day (and twice for working dog breeds) is vital to stimulate my brain and body. It creates important opportunities for me to meet strangers, other dogs and other animals, plus it tires me out! Tell me "no" if I'm chewing something I shouldn't and give me a chew toy instead. I'd love to have a range of chew toys that you can swap around so I don't get bored with them.
