About Brutus
Hi ya my name is Brutus. You may have known me as Big Boy. You ask why the name change! Well that's an easy one. You see I went in to a foster home from the kennels and my foster mum and dad decided that Big Boy just didn't suit me as I was a shy boy back then.
Well enough about my name. Now let's get to the details about how fantastic I am and what I'm looking for in my permanent family. I not only would love, but need, an older fur sibling to help me stay the confident happy boy I have become. You see my older, fur foster siblings have taught me how to play with other dogs and toys which is so good 'cause when my foster brother has had enough playing I can now sit in the same room as him and continue playing without him telling me off. So if you want a home with just one dog then I am not the one for you.
I need to be allowed inside as I love the human kind also and want to be close to you more often than not. I currently stay inside with the fur siblings while my foster parents are out. And then when they're home we all hang out together - inside or outside. I currently sleep on a raised dog bed next to foster mum.
My foster parents are working hard on my toilet training both inside and outside. You see they have these strange things on the floor called pee pads and every time I use them I get told I am a good boy and heaps of pats and sometimes even treats. I am slowly learning my manners when people are eating. I have learnt how to sit, but like a typical puppy I don't always listen. But I never get the treat until I sit. I don't think that's fair but foster mum tells me it is and she's the boss.
Want to know more about how you teach a pup to be a great dog? I'd like to do training every day so that I learn the commands of sit, stay, come, down, no, stop and leave it. And once I've learnt them, I need to keep practicing them every day too. That way I'll learn to obey what you tell me to do. Being consistent and clear with your boundaries will mean I always know the right way to behave. Getting out to exercise at least once a day is vital to stimulate my brain and body. It creates important opportunities for me to meet strangers, other dogs and other animals, plus it tires me out! Tell me "no" if I'm chewing something I shouldn't and give me a chew toy instead. I'd love to have a range of chew toys that you can swap around so I don't get bored with them.
