About George
Hello, my name is George! My nickname is BFG (Big Friendly George) because I'm a gorgeous, long-legged brindle boy who is always the first to squeeze through to say hello to you!
I am the king of chill. My throne you ask? Oh, the humble couch! I enjoy sun-baking, making friends, and have mastered the all-day snooze.
I enjoy doing the occasional zoomie in the yard, and love any toy that squeaks! If you have the squeakies, you've just unlocked the key to this boy's heart.
I will make you laugh when I collect all my toys and pile them into my bed – a king must have his treasures.
I would love humans who work part-time, and if kids aged 8+ years. Are you ready for royalty? Will you continue my regime of snacks, couch and pats?
Summary:
- Prefers canine company
- Not cat or small dog friendly
- Part-time workers (shift-workers, freelancers, etc.)
- If kids, 8+ years
George is in care currently with foster brother Mick: https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/711166
Medical notes
Desexed & vaccination, flea and worm treated. George has Pannus, a harmless eye condition that is managed by eye drops.
Adoption details
Step 1 - Message us here or email us at adoptions@greytgreys.org to express interest in the hound that you are looking at.
For more info: please call us on 0421 929 062. If we cannot take your call immediately, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as we can.
Step 2 - You'll receive a reply to your email with an application form. We'll require this form to be returned before proceeding. If you are having technological difficulties, please let us know.
Step 3 - We will contact you regarding a meet and greet (pending the suitability of your application). There may be situations where the hound that you are applying for, is not suitable to your home situation, but we might have another hound available that better suits your situation.
We do not advertise our foster dogs immediately, as we give them time to settle into home life first, so we can better assess their temperament. We may have a hound in foster care who might be well suited to your family, that has not been advertised yet.
Step 4 - The meet and greet will be organised so that any other pets in your family are also present. This would preferably be done in your home, as a home check can be done to ensure that adequate fencing, shelter, etc will be provided to the hound.
The adoption fee of $270 needs to be paid before the hound is adopted.
Step 5 - You take your new family member home on a 2 week trial. Ongoing support for this trial period and beyond is available.
If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all dogs will have some period of adjustment.
If, after the 2 week trial, you feel that you need to return the dog, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
- Collar, lead & coat
- Certificate of sterilisation & vaccination
- A 2.5 kg bag of Lifewise dog food
- Flea & worm treated
- Care information for your newly adopted greyhound
- Access to our private Facebook page for foster carers, volunteers and adopters of our hounds. A community with invaluable advice and support.
