About Bilby
Bilby is a really great little guy. He is a happy little boy who loves to play with his toys and with the other puppies. When a big dog steals his toy he will get into a tug of war with them too! He is quite confident mixing with the big dogs, as a result of exposure to a large family of dogs of all different ages. Bilby loves a lap cuddle too, and to just sit up there and watch the action unfold. He loves his foster mum too and still cuddles up to her even though he's getting to be a big boy now.
Bilby was born and lived the first 8 weeks of his life in a remote community in the Barkly region of NT. He was in very poor condition and surrendered to the vets during one of their visits. At the same time another family surrendered a sick, thin mummy dog with 4 frail little pups roughly the same age. The vets put him with them, and beautiful mum Layla adopted him straight away and fed him with the others. They were brought back to Tennant Creek and treated, then came to Elliott to go into foster care. With safety, warm beds and lots of good food and the right medicine, they all began to thrive. Initially Bilby had very bad mange and not much fur. Now that he is healthy he's turned into a beautiful brindle boy with white points. He is unrecognizable from the sick little guy that came to us.
Bilby would make a great family dog, and is the sort of dog you could take anywhere because he has such a great temperament.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Bilby's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. Bilby is currently in foster care in Elliott NT.
