About Izzy
Hi there, my name is Izzy. I'm a playfully lovable girl awaiting to find my permanent home - could this be with you? I'm a sweet and friendly girl who loves any kind of cuddles - from people or other dogs! Currently I'm in foster care with another dog and I get along very well with him; if we aren't playing I will be licking his face! I'm happy to follow his lead so am not a dominant dog, however with people I do like to test my boundaries and what I might be able to get away with he he!
With working dog origins, I have a lot of energy so will need a patient owner who is willing to put the time and effort into training me, to channel my energy into productive outlets. Playing ball is my favourite game, and with my chirpy energetic nature, this is one way to tire me out. I can get excited and jump up on people if you let me get away with it... I'm discovering how to dig and my foster family is teaching me 'no' to this behaviour, so I will need a strong leader to continue this training.
I'm house trained and will sit before my meals. As a smart girl who is food motivated, I am quick to learn. For this reason I would suit a family who have had experience with training puppies. I have been great with the kids I've met and other dogs too. I'm always with my foster brother so would ideally suit a home with another dog to keep me company.
Want to know more about how you teach a pup to be a great dog? I'd like to do training every day so that I learn the commands of sit, stay, come, down, no, stop and leave it. And once I've learnt them, I need to keep practicing them every day too. That way I'll learn to obey what you tell me to do. Being consistent and clear with your boundaries will mean I always know the right way to behave. Getting out to exercise at least once a day (and twice for working dog breeds) is vital to stimulate my brain and body. It creates important opportunities for me to meet strangers, other dogs and other animals, plus it tires me out! Tell me "no" if I'm chewing something I shouldn't and give me a chew toy instead. I'd love to have a range of chew toys that you can swap around so I don't get bored with them.
Please be aware that while SAFE has estimated I'll be medium sized when I grow up, it's always hard to know for sure with rescue pups, so I may be larger or smaller than that.
I CAN FLY TO PERTH!
Flying for a few hours is very important for animals in remote locations, because it gives us the opportunity to be adopted. Talk to SAFE about flying me to you in Perth for around $150 airfare.
