Toro is an adorably dopey 32kg lap dog wannabe with no sense of spatial awareness or any ideas of personal space. He is a big teddy bear, ball obsessed, walks through things rather than around and is essentially a goofy, entertaining boofhead.
If things move, he likes to chase and sometimes bark at them. Balls, leaves, trolleys, horses, birds, trams, cats.. Not to intentionally hurt them, just to catch them and play with them. He is happiest when he has a ball in his mouth, like a dummy. If he drops it nothing stands in his way to get it back, he will bulldoze his way through to find it. This includes people. Toro has been learning about other toys as he has worn away his teeth so much from chewing on balls for so many years.
Toro came into care with an untreated skin condition. This has been improving with a better diet, soft bedding, coconut oil, creams and powders that will need to be continued. In the warmer weather/high UV days he will need doggy zinc on his nose. His eyes get quite gunky so he will also need to continue on daily eye cleans and weekly ear cleanses to help prevent any further ear infections.
He walks quite well on lead, but does need reminding of his place every now and then. A water squirt bottle is all it takes to bring Toro back in line. His hearing is perfectly ok but he feigns deafness when given instructions. He is quite capable of sitting and shaking hands, but not when asked. He can be quite stubborn.
Toro gets along with dogs of all sizes, he generally ignores them. He can get a bit over exuberant when play is initiated, he will paw at them and squish the other dog, which can often push things over the line. He does not share his ball or high value food. He jumps around like a goat when excited.
Before arriving into care it is clear he had not been given many opportunities to learn nice manners. He will need to continue his schooling so he can become the best dog he can be. He will wander off with anyone.
Toro is a pretty easy going guy. Just don't let other dogs take his ball and he is dandy. He loves cuddles with his humans. He loves kids, but given his bulldozer abilities and snatching at his toys he is best suited to a home with kids over 12 if there are any. He will want to sit on them.
Toro the boofhead is located in Pascoe Vale.
