Gemma ~ Border Collie X (on trial 7/6/19)

This lovely girl is Gemma. She is a 4 year old Border Collie x who in looks is just a larger version of a Border Collie, weighing in at 32kg. Her mix of Border Collie with an unknown source has resulted in a very relaxed, cuddly lap dog. This girl is a chilled out homebody who enjoys lying about the house and yard. Oh and she looooves water! Give this girl a pool or dam and she will entertain herself!

Gemma is a very quiet dog and will not bark unless she senses an intruder. She has learnt to sit for food and has good recall. As Gemma has a tendency to jump up to say “hello”, ongoing training would be recommended. Being that she is very food oriented, she would respond well to treat related training.

Gemma’s perfect situation would be with someone who has no other dogs. While Gemma currently lives and has grown up with another border collie, she is protective and wary of any new dogs so it would be in her best interest that she is not rehomed with another dog. She is not suited to pocket pets or cats either.

Gemma’s lovable nature means she enjoys cuddles, pats and shadowing her humans around the house and yard. As she is very human orientated, she would make the ideal companion or family dog. She has been around children as young as 2 and is very loving and trusting to everyone she meets. We would recommend she go to a home with children over the age of 8 due to her larger size.

Walks are not a major requirement for this chilled out girl due to her being low-medium energy. She has shown reactivity to dogs while walking so it would be best that if her new owner chooses to walk her on the odd occasion, that they walk her on quiet streets away from any other dogs or work on reactivity training with her.
Gemma is toilet trained and will need to go to a home where she is included inside when her family are home. She would be suitable in a household of full-time workers as she is low energy and won’t dig, jump or try to escape. She is happy to lie around the yard and chill out on a comfy bush while her owners are at work.

Gemma's adoption fee is $400 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.
