About Theo ~ Kelpie X Jack Russell (on trial 5/5/19))
Hello! My name is Theo and my mum calls me her ‘forever puppy.’ I am a unique 1 year old Kelpie x Jack Russell Terrier and I am a small but solid little guy who will never grow up.
For a 1 year old pup, my mum says she is amazed at how much of a good boy I am. I guess being Kelpie x JRT must make me a smart cookie because I pick up basic commands with ease, like sit, stay and come! I LOVE playing with my toys, and I know what is and what isn't a toy. Mum says I am the perfect travel companion as I just sit lazily on car rides and best of all, I will just sit quietly next to you while you sip on a cuppa at the local cafe. I am not much of a puller, so mum says that I am a pleasure to walk. I also love meeting other pups, enjoy a sniff, and a play and then carry on walking with my human.
As I am the breed I am, I require a bit of stimulation, and despite my size am VERY active. I love to run around with other pups and enjoy a bit of exercise, so ideally, I would like to go to a home where I could go out on an adventure every day to scratch that active itch. As long as I am exercised, like all working breeds, I am a good boy.
Being half Jack Russell Terrier, I am extremely loyal and affectionate. I will need a home where I can be a part of the family. I love nothing more than a cuddle on the lounge while you watch TV. I will snuggle up in my bed and watch you potter around the house and follow you room to room. I sleep curled up in bed with my foster brother each night. I am happy to stay outside when my humans head to work, as long as I have some toys and shelter but love to be with you when you are home. So I would like to continue this when I head off to my forever family.
Before coming into care, I was home with cats and children. I have met cats and kids during my stay and am very gentle to them. I am sometimes mouthy with my foster mum as my big dog teeth are coming through, and I sometimes jump when excited so this should be considered if my forever home were to have small children. Because I am so smart, I am learning quickly not to jump and can be trained over time.
I have learned toilet training very quickly, but still require a little guidance. I haven’t quite figured out the doggy door yet, but I will pick it up in time. I no longer get confused when mum takes me outside and we stand on the grass for no apparent reason. I am starting to even go out of my own accord and that, I think deserves a treat!
I am fully desexed and vaccinated. So am good to go as soon as I find the right family.
