About Portia *Adoption Pending*
Portia is a 10 year old small poodle cross who still has lots of life in her. She is bubbly, loves walks but most of all loves nothing more than to lay by your side on the couch, follow you around the house and be your best friend.
She is well behaved, not much of a barker, and is toilet trained. Portia must always have access to indoors as this is where she most likes to spend her time. She will need secure fencing and would prefer someone who is home more often than not or another doggy companion. Portia loves to socialise with all the dogs at the beach, and is friendly with all people. She is a sweet girl, and is in good condition health wise besides her eyes and hearing deteriorating a bit.
There’s no doubt Portia will win your heart with her beautiful self
She has seen cats in the street and has not shown interest however would need to be slowly introduced to any cats in the home at a meet and greet. She is very friendly and would also be fine with kids but her ideal home would likely be a nice quiet spot for her retirement. Portia would be a lovely companion for an older family who is home fairly often, happy to have her indoors full time and allowed on the bed/couch. She deserves to spend her last years spoiled and loved.
With or without another dog - Portia doesn't mind. She doesn’t like to be outdoors and secure fencing is a must.
Portia is located in Battery Hill, QLD.
Dog friendly: Yes
Cat friendly: unknown - but shows a friendly nature
Kid friendly: Yes
Inside/outside dog: both - but prefers indoors
Toilet trained: Yes
Separation anxiety: no - but would love to spend her retirement home relaxing with her humans
Medical notes
Portia will be desexed, vaccinated & microchipped.
Portia has had ear infections in the past, including having both ears infected at time of rescue and she received immediate treatment from vets who prescribed antibiotics. She is highly likely to be susceptible to continued ear infections and her adopter will need to understand the importance of ear health and regular cleaning. Ear infections, once set in, require a vet appointment for treatment.
Adoption details
ADOPTION:
To meet, adopt or find out more details on this animal, please fill in our adoption application at our website- http://www.safehavenanimalrescueinc.com
Completing this application form does not place you under any obligation to adopt.
Safe Haven Animal Rescue Inc have a 10 day trial/settling period, if for any reason the pet needs to be returned, we will happily take them back into our care once a foster home is found and the adoption fee minus $50 (admin fee) will be returned via bank transfer within 5 working days. If the pet is returned after the trial period there will be no refund made.
ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. An Adoption application MUST be filled out prior to the meet and greet with the animal.
2. 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place. You must bring your current dog along to the meet and greet if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption. If meeting a cat we do not recommend brining your current dog/cat as this may stress the cat/kitten out.
3. The animal MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGED (travelling over a 2 hr round trip), we will NOT ACCEPT the animal to be taken on the day if less then 2 days notice is given. If prior arrangement is made, an adoption agreement/s and payment must be made before collection of the animal.
4. 10 day trial period commences once the animal has been collected from foster carer.
5. Adoption is finalised after 14 days and paperwork is sent via email.
Sorry we can’t take calls, as our rescue is run entirely by volunteers, but we endeavour to respond to your email within 24 - 48 hours. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
