About Lola ~ Shar-Pei x ~ Rehomed 5/4/19
Introducing Lola - a pretty faced and fluffy 4.5 year old Shar Pei x Border Collie x Shepherd who is a real sweetheart. Lola is a very smart and loveable girl who is a gentle giant.
Lola is stunning to look at - she has the long nose and dark markings of a shepherd with the cutest little Shar-Pei ears. She has a smile that melts your heart and a big lolling tongue that gives her a goofily endearing look after a big play session.
Lola’s favourite place in the world is at the dog-beach - this bronzed beach babe loves to get her toes wet running in the shallows - especially if there is a thrown ball or stick involved. She likes to feel the soft sand between her toes as she helps you make sand castles (by digging holes to China!)
Lola is a confident lass when meeting new people and dogs. She is good with kids and isn’t phased when receiving hugs and over-exuberant attention from kids - she takes it all in her stride. She adores introducing herself to other friendly dogs both big and small when off leash at the beach, park or out walking. Once she knows you she has great recall too.
Lola loves ball games - when the ball is out her focus is completely on games of catch and return. She used to be quite protective of her balls (and food) with other dogs but now she is fine with other dogs around when it’s toy time or even bone snacking time. Like many dogs Lola responds best when she has rules to guide her behaviour and boundaries - if you allow her to rule the roost she will certainly take advantage of your generosity.
Lola has lovely house manners and has learnt what rooms in the house are Lola-free zones. She’s also learnt that the couch and other furniture are most certainly Lola-free areas! She sleeps inside happily in the family room and will only sneak into the bedrooms if there is a thunderstorm as she likes to be close to you for reassurance during storms. Her perfect home will be with a single, couple or family who have had dogs before and understand that she needs both love and routine.
Lola is in foster care with a male whippet whom she adores - she likes to follow his lead especially if he’s naughty . Her buddy loves to chase cats so Lola will be egged on by him despite the fact that she has previously lived with a cat . So if there are cats around she would need to be introduced gradually so that she can remember that cats are friends too. Lola would love a well-mannered, adult canine friend in her new home - she doesn’t cope with being on her own in the yard so she won’t suit full time workers if she’s an only dog. If you are semi retired or have a job where you can take your dog to work she’d be a fabulous work colleague.
Lola loves daily walks, but she’s also happy with a ball throwing session if you are unable to squeeze in a walk some days. She will run until she’s had enough and then take the ball to a shady spot when she’s ready to recharge. She has an old over-use injury in her front leg from when she was younger and didn’t know when to stop running - this hasn’t bothered her much in the last year since she’s been running in moderation and her carer is mindful of it.
If you are looking for a loyal and endearing new best friend like Lola then please contact Jo on jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com. Lola is currently in foster care near Erina on the NSW Central Coast. She is not available for long distance or interstate adoption.
Lola's adoption fee is $350 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration.
Medical notes
Lola has an old over-use injury in her front leg from when she was younger and didn’t know when to stop running - this hasn’t bothered her much in the last year since she’s been running in moderation and her carer is mindful of it. Her new family should ensure that she doesn’t run herself silly with ball chasing.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:

If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
