About Dahlia
Dahlia is deaf but don’t let this worry you, she’s quiet the overachiever; knowing the basic obedience commands using ASL signs, having completed puppy preschool, learning fast with lead training and being toilet trained.
Dahlia’s current foster carer had no experience with deaf dogs and says the only real difference with a deaf dog is getting their attention to tell them their instructions, everything else is the same.
Her deafness does not slow her down at all, she is incredibly adaptable and loves going on adventures, camping, dog parks, markets, the beach (she just has to wear her doggie sunscreen on her cute little nose because she’s sun sensitive).
She bonds quickly and loves people (Children over 8yo). She loves playing with other dogs and would benefit from a confident dog in her new home. Unfortunately, she is reactive to cats, chickens & pocket pets so needs a home without these please. She will steal your heart with her beautiful blue puppy dog eyes and then steal space on the couch.
Dahlia has separation anxiety from her people which will require patience & consistency in response, or someone who is home often. She has medication to assist with taking the edge off her anxiety as well as a collection of activities she can do whilst she is without her humans, like puzzle toys and snuffle mats.
She has a hooded vulva which needs monitoring until after her first season and then she will be speyed (Safe Haven will coordinate this).
She doesn’t KNOW she has special needs & is an absolute ball of delightful darling energy!
Fostering2 Adopt allows you to take Dahlia into your lives with the extra support and guidance of Safe Haven.
Dahlia is located in Kingston, QLD

Dahlia is completly DEAF and has a HOODED VULVA. She will need a loving and devoted owner to be her ears. She is learning ASL signs and is responding very well to these. This will need to be continued. She will need to have a heat before desex due to her hooded vulva. Dahlia will be adopted with a medical waiver.
Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. To meet, adopt or find out more details on this animal, please fill in our adoption application at our website- http://www.safehavenanimalrescueinc.com Completing this application form does not place you under any obligation to adopt.
2. Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption. If meeting a cat we do not recommend bringing your current dog/cat as this may stress the feline out.
3. The animal cannot be taken on the day unless prior arranged (over 2 hr round trip), and the adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the animal.
4. Once collected, the 10 day settling period begins, if for any reason the pet needs to be returned, we will happily take them back into our care into a suitable foster home. The adoption fee minus $50 (admin fee) will be returned via bank transfer within 5 working days. If the pet is returned after this trial period there will be no refund made.
5. Adoption is finalised after 14 days and paperwork, including the Change of Microchip Details form, is sent via email.
We endeavour to respond to your email within 48 hours. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
