About Rusty
Hi how are you, my name is Rusty! I’mveryexcitedtomeetyou! In fact I’m generally excited and energetic.
I love to run and chase, and would very much love have a variety of toys to keep me stimulated such as toys hanging from trees/post to play with. I am obedient and eager to please - I can sit, shake, drop and am currently learning to wait and leave and would do best in a family that can continue my training and set firm limits. At times I can be over enthusiastic and have difficulty containing my excitement and while I am learning not to jump up I may still accidentally knock over small children.
At night time I sleep in a crate which I really love and sleep all night but sometimes I take a bit of convincing with food encouragement that it’s bed time. I loooove to play chase and am not selective in what I chase so I may require supervision when around smaller animals.
Enough about me though, when can I meet you? Please tell me it’s soon!!!
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Cats are adopted under the expectation they will be kept indoors or in an enclosed area eg cat run or cat-net veranda. We provide cats with core vaccines up to date while in care, however recommend a full FIV/FELV protocol especially if the cat will go outdoors.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details. You will also be provided with 7 days worth of food, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
