About Arlo
FOSTER OR ADOPTION
Arlo hasn't had the easiest of life and this isn't the first time Arlo has made his way back to Hear No Evil.
During his life, Arlo has been stolen, beaten and dumped, before HNE found him in a regional pound. After being picked up and having a series of tests it was found that the beatings he endured damaged one eye and it needed to be removed, it also impacted his hearing. A series of X-Rays revealed that he had sustained multiple breaks to his legs that healed badly causing him to limp. There was nothing that could be done to rectify his not-so-perfect hearing or his wonky walk.
Despite all that he has gone through he was the sweetest old boy and he quickly adopted. However The adoptive home we found misunderstood the concept of "forever" and when his adopter chose to prioritise a new relationship over Arlo, he was dumped in a shelter again. This was despite our adoption contract specifying that if a dog can’t stay with the adopter, they must be returned to HNE. We were contacted by the shelter he was left at and made another long trek interstate to get him back to safety again.
Arlo is approximately 9 years old. He is an English staffy and is on the smaller side of the size spectrum for the breed. His hearing isn’t great and he only has one eye, but he responds to verbal and signed commands. Arlo is extremely respectful of his home environment, loves nothing more than spending time with his people, is crate trained and is a total snuggly smooch. The old breaks in his legs mean he does walk in a wonky way, but he gets around just fine and will simply need some arthritis/pain management in the future. He still thoroughly enjoys getting out for a walk and greets his people with his slightly slower version of staffy zoomies when they get home from work.
Whilst it’s a pleasure having him back, his current emergency foster placement isn’t ideal for him, being home with 5 other dogs. If Arlo needs to wait for his perfect forever family appear, we’d like it to be in a foster home that more closely resembles his idea of a perfect forever home.
Arlo deserves a secure retirement where he laze-away the days feeling safe, secure and loved.
Medical notes
Arlo has had one eye removed and has some hearing loss. Will need arthritis management
Adoption details
Hear No Evil's Adoption process:
1st Step * You contact us to obtain an adoption application, and discuss the dog of interest.
Once the application is completed and returned it will be assessed for suitability.
2nd Step * A Meet and Greet with the dog and all members of the adopting family and and current dogs is arranged where possible.
This usually coincides with a Yard check to ensure the safety and security of the property on which the dog will be kept. - We understand that this is not always possible in interstate adoptions and this will be discussed on your initial contact.
3rd Step *Payment of the Adoption fee in full. The dog is then handed over with any belongings, and all relevant paperwork and records.
Transport arrangements are the financial responsibility of the Adopting party. Hear No Evil are happy to assist with departure preparations and ensuring the dog makes its transport connection.
Final step * Once the 14 day 'settling in' period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted, and the adoption is officially finalised.
