About Sam our divine older boy
SWEET LOVING GENTLEMAN
Sam is a sweet little older man. He was found as a stray on the streets, was then rescued from a pound after no one claimed him, and is currently being fostered awaiting you to adopt him!
DELIGHTFUL QUALITIES
- snorts softly like a little pigpy when he's sniffing about at the park
- a quietly content and friendly loving introvert sort of fellow. He's not the gregarious dude that jumps all over strangers, he's the big-hearted quiet gentleman who'll form a bond with you quickly, pick you out as 'his person' and be attentive to what you want him to do
- will sometimes come up to you and put his head under your hand to ask for ear rubs and pats
- if you're lying on the couch, about once a day he'll hop up onto your chest to ask for some lovely hugs
- falls asleep on the couch with his head on your feet and sometimes snores. Bless!
- from time to time appears adorably to have some very lucid dreams going on, and will make very soft little barking noises and do body twitches as if he's running about in his dreams
- loves hugs in bed but afterward will prefer to fall asleep next to you in his own bed
- loves walking about in the park offleash and yet seems so far to want to stay with you and not wander off too far ever. He responds well to his name being called sharply and will stop mid track to enable you to get the leash on him, or will notice you taking a different direction and divert to follow you. If your local doggy park isn't fenced, he will be ok as long as it's away from roads with a lot of traffic and you keep your eye on him and stay with him.
- doesn't need huge walks but would like a walk around the block and a hello to other dogs at a local doggy park daily
- likes to be with you. If you're home most of the time he won't try to find ways to run away from home.
- content to follow you around all day, watch movies with you (he's partial to Scandinavian noir crime dramas) and assist with a spot of gardening. Sam would love to be the companion of a retired person with whom he can be with every day.
- travels well in a car. Hops in and out by himself on command.
- appears to have been well loved in his past and will happily inhabit your couch
- takes any pills you need to give him easily if you hide it in his food
- one of Sam's favourite meals is fried beef with some steamed carrot and broccoli, mixed in with cooked rice. He likes this more than dry food (and it's healthier). Beef offcuts are available super cheaply from your local butcher :)
SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
- would suit being an only dog or with one other dog. If you have a dog, we'd just need to check their compatibility first. He gets along great with most dogs and not so well with a rare few.
- may not have been super well socialised with other dogs previously. He's friendly and curious but has a mad habit of racing right up to dogs in a rash manner that could seem slightly aggressive to some doggies and get him into trouble.
- he can be a bit tuggy on a leash. Not an issue for the average person, but could be for a less strong elderly person
