About George *On Trial in His New Home*
*GEORGE IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Meet George the GIANT goofball!!! He’s a fun and friendly fella who just loves a cuddle. He is confident and happy around other dogs and would benefit from being in a home where he has at least one other canine friend as that’s what he’s used to – will it be with you?
Loveable George sometimes forgets just how BIG he is and for this reason would be best suited to a forever home with school aged children as his excited tail wags could accidentally flick small children in the face. He loves to lean against your leg or sit on your feet, which are typical Great Dane traits.
George will bark to alert his humans of a person approaching the house and has been known to have the occasional howl at airplanes when they fly over his yard. When meeting an unfamiliar male George may act in an unsure way - standing back, observing and barking on occasion. He just needs the opportunity to sniff the male stranger in his own time. George is a big fan of all females and will greet them lovingly which can lead to slobbery moments!
This clever dog can sit, drop and shake hands using both paws – he is motivated by treats which will help with any further training you may like to do. Due to a change in his owner’s circumstances George hasn’t been walked much recently though he is generally calm on the lead but may rush at other dogs due to excitement, and he is quite strong so a Halti or Gentle Leader is the go. He travels well in a car or in the back of a ute. George has not been tested with cats so a cat-free home is probably best.
George is toilet trained and loves coming inside though you’ll need to keep a handtowel ready to wipe the drool, but hey what’s a bit of slobber between friends! He may unintentionally knock items over in the house due to his size so best that your valuables are kept up high! When outside, he enjoys running around in the backyard chasing toys alongside his fur buddy who just happens to be a little Jack Russell. George needs tough toys that are big and bulky as he has confessed to swallowing a golf ball which needed to be medically removed. George happily sleeps in a large kennel in the backyard and will go to his kennel obediently when told to “go to bed”. On hot days, he loves to wet his paws in a paddle pool, run under the sprinkler and be hosed down. He may dig if bored although he does not need a huge amount of space - George would choose quality time and affection with his humans over a big yard, although both would be a bonus!

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
