About Sierra *Adoption Pending*
Sierra is one sassy sausage. Due to a spinal injury she doesn’t have much use of her back legs, but she does not let her disability get in her way. Sie does have wheels but doesn’t love to wear them and is very capable and confident scooting around.
Sierra needs a special home, someone who is around a lot/ works from home as she wears nappies which need to be changed fairly often. She absolutely loves other dogs and would definitely prefer a home with a doggy friend. Like a typical dachshund, Sie can be quite bossy around her food and her family. She absolutely loves pats and snuggles and will happily sit and snuggle you for hours. Sierra can be a little bit nervous around men, but once she gets to know and trust you she will adore you. Older children are recommended as any children will need to know to be extra careful when playing with Sierra.
While she can’t really go for walks, Sie loves to run around in the backyard and also go for swims (which is great therapy for her legs too).
Sie has such a wonderful personality and would absolutely shine in a loving home.
Sierra is located in Upper Mount Gravatt, QLD.
Sierra will be adopted through a foster to adopt contract to ensure her transition to her furever home is smooth.

Medical notes
Sierra is desexed, vaccinated & microchipped.
Sierra suffered trauma to her spine as a puppy, and did not receive the appropriate therapy at the time. This resulted in the inability to use her back legs properly, however she is not fully paralysed in her rear limbs. With lots of physio and rehabilitation, Sierra is slowly gaining function in her legs, however we don't anticipate she will ever regain full 'normal' use. As she has been limited in her mobility since about 7 weeks old, her current abilities are normal for her and she doesn't let this limit her. She has wheels for going out and about, but prefers to be wheel free when home.
As a result of the spinal injury Sierra is incontinent, however this is managed effectively with nappies when inside. She can go nappy free when outside on grass, however if she is on concrete or other rough surfaces she will need to wear nappies or pants to prevent injuries to her thighs and rear (baby leggings fit Sie very well!)
Sierra will be adopted through a foster to adopt contract to ensure her transition to her furever home is smooth.
Adoption details
ADOPTION:
To meet, adopt or find out more details on this animal, please fill in our adoption application at our website- http://www.safehavenanimalrescueinc.com
Completing this application form does not place you under any obligation to adopt.
Safe Haven Animal Rescue Inc have a 10 day trial/settling period, if for any reason the pet needs to be returned, we will happily take them back into our care once a foster home is found and the adoption fee minus $50 (admin fee) will be returned via bank transfer within 5 working days. If the pet is returned after the trial period there will be no refund made.
ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. An Adoption application MUST be filled out prior to the meet and greet with the animal.
2. 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place. You must bring your current dog along to the meet and greet if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption. If meeting a cat we do not recommend brining your current dog/cat as this may stress the cat/kitten out.
3. The animal MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGED (travelling over a 2 hr round trip), we will NOT ACCEPT the animal to be taken on the day if less then 2 days notice is given. If prior arrangement is made, an adoption agreement/s and payment must be made before collection of the animal.
4. 10 day trial period commences once the animal has been collected from foster carer.
5. Adoption is finalised after 14 days and paperwork is sent via email.
Sorry we can’t take calls, as our rescue is run entirely by volunteers, but we endeavour to respond to your email within 24 - 48 hours. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
