About Maisie. Melbourne
At seven years young, Maisie’s happy to hang out and take it easy. She’s lived in a house before, so is well-adjusted to life as a pet, and will slot effortlessly into her forever home. We think she’s been a country girl in the past, but she’s also doing well in the city—in fact, she’d fit in almost anywhere! As long as there’s lots of love and affection, Maisie’s content.
Maisie loves her daily 20–30 minute walk, but is happy to sleep the rest of the day. She’d enjoy having a large canine friend, and is good buddies with her foster brother Duke (also available for adoption). She may also be ok as an only dog, provided she had plenty of human company, as she enjoys being part of the family, and has a little whine if she’s left alone. She’s not sure yet about children, small dogs, or cats, but her laid-back nature might work well with them.
Maisie’s in great shape for a middle-aged girl (just some dental issues, which will be treated prior to adoption), and can twist her body into the most amazing sleeping positions! Her most elegant is the “ballerina”, with one leg gracefully extended. But Maisie’s cutest habit is nibbling your hand, to gently let you know she loves you. Will yours be the hand that Maisie nibbles forever ?

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
