About Gelo
Gelo, meaning 'ice' in Portugese. Because I am also white and super cool...
I arrived into OTC care after being surrendered to a council pound with my two sisters. My breeder couldn't sell us, so he abandoned us and when we ran out of time, OTC saved us. My two sisters have found loving homes now, and now it's my time to shine!
I am fantastic with other dogs, and children. Since coming into care I have shown how beautiful my manners and personality are. I love nothing more than snuggle sesh's on the hammock with my human, or going on adventures at the park and dog park. I like car rides, and I am learning to walk on the leash well. I would prefer a home that lets me sleep inside at night and I behave myself when allowed in- however I have slept outside at one of my foster homes and if I have another dog for company and adequate shelter, I'm ok outside too. I'm a very easy going girl who knows to wait at the door before rushing in.
I am not an escape artist; I only require 4ft fencing. I love to swim, and a cheap clamshell pool from BigW with a bit of water in it keeps me occupied for hours. I have medium energy levels so would love to be walked or taken out 3 times weekly (more if you can!) so I remain a balanced and happy girl. I am curious with cats; if you own cats you will need to commit to teaching me how to be gentle with them. I have a lot of ability and eagerness to learn. I am a sweet, food-orientated girl, I am a definite heart breaker and couch hogger. If you're wanting to skip the initial 'puppy phase', while still getting the cuteness but better manners- I'm your girl.
So- think I'm the one? I'd love to hear from you!
Medical notes
I have had three vaccinations, a microchip implanted, and am up to date with all worm and flea. My desexing went without a hitch. I had two teeth removed during desex as they were crooked and hurting my gum- so I shouldn't have big bones to chew on, but I can have eg chicken drumsticks once a week to help clean my teeth. Apart from that there is nothing special to report! I am a young happy and healthy girl
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
