About Brewster
Meet Brewster—fostered in Perth! Brewster is a truly lovely all-rounder who’s been through a tough few months, and could really use a break. He was adopted from SAFE Karratha by a loving owner 2 years ago, but that owner has suffered a health crisis, cannot live independently and is therefore unable to keep or care for him.
Still a young dog, Brewster LOVES all other dogs and people. He was fostered with cats and chickens before his initial adoption 2 years ago, but hasn’t lived with them since, so we’re unsure how he would react to them now. His early records say he wasn’t good with other small, fluffy pets, and he has not lived with children before. He is toilet trained, and quite intelligent: he learned how to use the dog door at his fosterer’s the very first day. Brewster currently weighs 22.5kg and we think he should be a little trimmer--we're aiming for about 20kg.
Typically we prefer our foster dogs to settle in with a carer for a few weeks before being listed for adoption. This gives them a chance to de-stress and trust again, and gives us a chance to know them better in order to make a good match. However Brewster has always suffered from separation anxiety, and his current foster carers are leaving town Dec 13th. Rather than move him to yet another temporary home we’re very much hoping we can find him an adopter (or someone interested in fostering to adopt). We have his full vet history for the last 2 years.
We think the ideal adopter(s) for Brewster would be a mature couple or single person, who want a companion dog with them most of the time. Even better if there’s another dog in the household for company as he doesn’t like being left alone. He loves curling up next to you on the couch and is always ready for walkies! When he first arrived in care he was too stressed to eat or play, but as he relaxes we’re seeing that he could easily be both food and ball obsessed. We’re told he has great recall, although we haven’t tested that yet.
This handsome, loving lad deserves a home of his own—could you be his Christmas miracle?
