Pennywise will make a great family companion to someone with a large yard and time to spend with him. Pennywise is a lovely family member inside and an energetic one outside. He enjoys a belly rub nearly every time you pat him. He is good with kids, both younger and older, he is good with other dogs but should be monitored around cats as he like to chase them. When Pennywise came into our care he had no clue what to do with a ball, but thanks to our kids and other dogs, he likes to have a go now. Pennywise already has some training under his belt, he will sit and most of the time drop, he also has very good recall. He is a very smart dog who learns quickly. For a big boy, he thinks he is a lap dog, he will climb over the side of the chair just to be with you.
Pennywise also has a few things that potential adopters need to be aware of. He has some food aggression, during meals he should be separated from other animals. Pennywise also suffers from anxiety. Sometimes he paces, whines and barks. Lots of noise (thunder, overly noisy neighbours and living on a street with a school, like he currently does, upsets him). He also wants to chase cars, so living somewhere quiet would do this boy wonders.
Pennywise currently uses a crate for times he is very stressed and he will settle so well that he goes to sleep in there, so it is suggested new owners have their own crate for him. Also spending lots of time with Pennywise makes him very happy and he is a very nice dog to be around. A family who can help this boy de-stress will have a wonderful companion on their hands.
