About Pomme
One year old Pomme was rescued by my husband along with Digby (adopted) and Sue (adopted). They are failed working dogs who had to make way for their replacements - it’s hard to contemplate what their fate could have been.
Pomme is a medium haired Border Collie x. Mum was a Border Collie, dad Border Collie x Cattle Dog, meaning Pomme is 3/4 Border Collie. She has a little stumpy tail.
Failed working dogs generally make wonderful pets - because they didn’t make the grade as working dogs it may mean they lacked the necessary drive to herd stock or were simply not interested in working in hot conditions for days on end, perhaps they preferred more comfort than could be afforded them in a working environment. Any of these reasons are not detrimental to them becoming wonderful companions.
Pomme was part of a team of working dogs, so she knows how to get along with others. Since being here in foster care, Pomme really enjoys playing with the other dogs, then chilling at the back door or under a shady tree, soaking up the coolness. She’s a good girl on the leash, as soon as you stop walking, she either sits or lies down, waiting for the walk to resume. She stays in the house yard and isn’t an escape artist. She’s an attentive girl who watches you to see what is required of her next.
Pomme would suit an active family, who are able to provide her with the exercise and stimulation a young dog needs.
Because Pomme has never been an only dog, we would love to find her a home with another reasonably active dog - that way they can exercise themselves in between structured exercise times if they want to.
Pomme is a lightly built girl, weighing around 14.5 kilos, not that you would need to lift her very often - she will jump into the car quite readily.
She’s in care at Moree, NSW. Moree has daily flights to Sydney and further afield. Dog road transport is another option.
Medical notes
Vet checked, microchipped, vaccinated and desexed.
