About Lucy
Lucy has had a journey in her young life.
Lucy was brought into our care after facing being put to sleep in a pound after she was forcibly removed from a back yard by council after reports that she had been left chained up with no provisions and unable to get to water. Owner was rushed to hospital and she was just left there on her own. There is no other family. Temperatures have reached over 40 degrees out there in the last few weeks.
According to the rangers, the owner really is lovely but he has kept her on a chain for her whole life. She had a ring around her neck and indentation marks from the chain.
Lucy was impounded for almost 4 weeks, the owner has been in hospital the entire time and is now gravely ill. Lucy had received no vet work at all in her life - so unfortunately as she has had at least one litter of pups and not received medical attention after, this caused a serious infection for her - she was very lucky and she was able to be desexed and treated for her infection - she has now made a full recovery and ready to start the next phase of her life with a family hopefully.
Lucy is a beautiful girl who is now experiences the joy of being able to play in a backyard - she has successfully taught our carer how to throw a ball and then run after it while Lucy runs along beside her keeping 'her company'
Lucy is enjoying the company of humans and would very much love someone who is home more often than not or a family to play with when they are home.
Lucy is used to being on a chain so while not an escape artist she has no concept of a gate being left opened.
Lucy is very curious of cats - not to hurt but will chase them.
Lucy is still learning about other dogs so if another dog in the family a introduction must be done or ideally she would happily be an only child.
Lucy is great at walking on the lead and does have manners - she is also so very much eager to please her humans and will turn herself inside out for a simple pat and acknowledgment.
Lucy is now just waiting to start the life she has always deserved - are you that person who can help her?
