About Hazel ~ Whippet (on trial 22/2/2019)
Meet Hazel the heartbreaker! Hazel is a 19 month old brindle whippet. Since she was a pup Hazel has been in a loving home with her fur sister and parents. She is a loving and beautifully well-behaved girl who just wants to be near you. She also has impeccable manners, is fully house trained, a good eater and exceptional sleeper (she loves to sleep).
The one thing Hazel needs help to work on is that she likes to get out of her yard! She would love a backyard and will need someone who is home a significant amount of time that can help her settle in and love her new house so she does not want to go. Consistent exercise, time and attention and positive reinforcement will help Hazel along the way (and maybe a chance to run every now and again!). Hazel is crate trained which may be useful for her new family as she settles in.
Hazel walks well on lead. She can bark at dogs from a distance but up close is not bothered by them at all, so with more practice walking on lead this is likely to improve. She has some carsickness which may be due to not having been in a car much, so it should improve also. Hazel is used to running around at the beach and has good recall.
Hazel has previously lived with a Greyhound but would benefit from a more playful fur companion. She would also be suited to being an only dog if you could give her love and attention and a chance to interact with other dogs regularly.
Hazel is good with kids but can be nervous around young children. Hazel has not had exposure to cats or pocket pets.
