About BJ
Hi friends! I'm BJ, or BG Boy as my foster parents have taken to calling me.
I'm a bit of a silver fox at 16, but feel like I have a new lease on life.
I love my food and will let you know when I think it is dinner time. I've been working hard to gain some weight so that there's a little more of me to cuddle.
I also love exploring the doggy park and having a sniff now that my arthritis is feeling much better.
I get along with all other dogs I've met and even don’t mind a hug and pat from kids, as long as they are old enough to be gentle with me. I haven't meet any cats yet. But in a past home I lived with them.
I get sweeter the more you get to know me and try to make you happy by greeting you when you get home with my big gummy smile and wagging bushy tail. I even might give you a little kiss if you do my head scratches just right.
Getting to nap and snuggle on the couch is great, but I also don’t mind snuggling up on a bed on the floor and I'm pretty good at sleeping the night through in my own bed.
My foster parents say I'm a good boy not doing messes inside as long as I have access to the backyard. I also don’t bark even when my foster brothers are making a racket. Stairs are too challenging for me so I'd love a house without stairs, otherwise I'm very happy to be carried around like the little prince I am. Have a read of my medical notes, I am pretty healthy for an elderly gent and then go further down and fill out an application or inquire about me.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant X-rays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
BJ has recently had dental surgery and had multiple teeth extracted, he has healed well after the procedure and is feeling much better. BJ has reduced eyesight but has vision.
He is in good health for a senior dog, although he does have joint degeneration in his hips, which is typical in dogs of his age. This currently being managed with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) called Metacam. He has 8 drops with food once daily and the cost per month is around $27. BJ will come with a supply of Metacam.
