About Conan *On Trial in His New Home*
*CONAN IS CURRENTLY TRIALING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* This bright eyed lad with the winning smile is looking for a forever home with a medium to large sized backyard he can share with another fun-loving dog as well as a human or two who are around fairly often - will it be with you?
Recently rescued from Mildura Pound, Conan loves everyone he meets! He adores human company and will accept pats and cuddles for as long as possible! He has an incredibly calm demeanour and won’t jump up or demand attention inappropriately. Instead, he lowers his head for a pat or positions his body close to you, all the while offering you his big goofy grin. He is a quiet young dog and has only been observed barking once while in foster care, and that was when a neighbour peered over the fence.
Loveable Conan is great with kids and is devoted to his foster carer’s young daughter. He obediently follows her around while giving her the occasional lick and retrieving toys she has thrown. He has accompanied his foster carer to her workplace, where he sat happily in a crate and quietly observed the day’s activities. He travels well in a car, often lying on the backseat for the duration of the trip.
This clever young boy is a fast learner and is eager to please. He ‘sits’, ‘stays’ and waits patiently for treats. He is generally calm on a lead, although he may pull initially due to excitement, so practice and a Halti or Gentle Leader would help with this. Conan currently spends the majority of his time outside and happily sleeps alongside his foster sister, however, he also enjoys spending supervised time indoors with a favoured toy or treat to keep him occupied.
Conan is incredibly happy around other dogs and has shown his foster sister a huge amount of love since the moment they met, following her around and licking her face subtly. He has welcomed other dogs visiting his foster home with open paws. He is a fan of cats and desperately wants to play with them! Although he does need supervision as his interactions can lead to an unwanted game of ‘chasey’. In saying this, Conan has demonstrated calm and safe behaviours around two little rabbits sharing his environment.
As Conan is still quite young he would best suit a home where he is not left for long periods of time. When his humans’ are away, Conan needs stimulating activities to keep him occupied such as a Kong Extreme, chew toys that are tough, bones and perhaps some treats hidden around the yard. He also loves to dig, so a plastic shell for sand would be beneficial as he has dug some holes in the backyard when left unattended. Conan absolutely loves water so a paddle pool in his forever home where he can fully submerge himself on a hot summer day is a must.
So if you’ve got the time, patience and love required to continue bringing up Conan then please download and complete a SARG Dog Application form by following this link: http://www.sarg.net.au/adopt-a-pet/

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
