Kismet is genuinely one of the most delightful cats we’ve ever met! Not only is she super affectionate (and will give kisses on request) she is extremely playful and doesn’t act anywhere near her age!
Kismet came to us from one of the major shelters with an un-diagnosed condition causing her to be a bit wobbly in her back legs.
Soon after arriving in care, Kis spent 24 hours at Centre for Animal Referral & Emergency, having a bevvy of tests, to try and work out the cause of her wobbly back end.
Kismet had a CT and Myelogram, as well as a spinal tap and a heap of pathology.
This is what we now know:
Kismet's pathology all came back clear. This means she doesn't have any infectious conditions and her wobble issues don't appear to be neurological. Kis has chronic degeneration of 3 discs in her spine, which we believe is the cause of her wobbles. As her symptoms are mild and have not progressed at all while in care, she will not require any further action at this time. It's possible that the discs may worsen over time, requiring intervention in the future, but at this stage, surgery is not required or recommended.
Kismet is not in any pain and is not bothered by her wobbly swagger, so she officially has the all clear to start the search for her forever home!
Kismet will need a single level, indoor only home, but otherwise, there are no special requirements.
Kis is the sweetest, most loving girl and would make a wonderful constant companion for a retired single or couple, she's very people focused.
Kismet would prefer to be an only pet as although she's very playful, she prefers to play with her toys and her humans, not other animals.
