Edwina and Tiffany are much more than an adorable pair of pretty and very affectionate girls â they need and rely on each other.
Edwina came into our care as a fluffy white kitten with issues, we just werenât sure what they were at first. Edwina was missing all of her kitten milestones; she seemed unable to eat independently or use the litter as the siblings that came in with her could. While she was a healthy weight, Edwina seemed unable to care for herself, and toilet training was proving impossible.
After having her thoroughly examined by vets, we discovered that Edwina has no sight in one eye and very little in the other, and she also has hearing challenges. So we got to work teaching this very special little girl how to find her food and how to use the litter tray â and as she grew older and more confident, Edwina proved to be a very fast learner!
Before long Edwina was using the litter tray successfully, able to locate her food and was running and playing - but her confidence only really took off when another little foster kitten arrived into our care, the gorgeous little tortie girl Tiffany.
Immediately, Tiffany took Edwina under her wing and helped her to understand her environment, helped her to grow her confidence and gave her a loving and warm body to cuddle up to after theyâd finished their playtime sessions.
Tiffany has become Edwinaâs âseeing eye catâ â and that is why they need to be adopted together. Wherever Edwina is, Tiffany is never far away.
Edwinaâs impairments means sheâll need a home where she and Tiffany can run about with the confidence that very little will change, in terms of moving furniture about in the house. And they will need to be indoors-only kitties.
To look at them playing you would hardly notice Edwina has any challenges at all (have a look at her playing in the video!), but if you adopt this pair you will need to be aware to keep an eye on her to make sure sheâs okay. Smaller children might not appreciate Edwinaâs challenges, so we feel a home with older children would be ideal.
We are determined to keep them together in the right home, and we'd like to work with you to make sure it is the right space for these girls. We're also more than happy discuss any questions you might have. We will also include a free vet check (at our vet in Lynbrook) for both girls as part of the adoption process.

Medical notes
Edwina has no sight in her left eye and has limited sight in her right eye. Edwina also has hearing challenges - she can hear at a low level but relies on vibrations and her other senses to avoid collisions and to get around.
Edwina has adapted well to everything life has thrown at her; she can use the litter independently but needs some guidance to locate her food when it is put down. Her sense of smell is unaffected and she does use this well to identify food, people and her "seeing eye cat" buddy Tiffany.

HOW TO ADOPT FROM US:
1. Email dandycatrescue@yahoo.com and request an adoption form to be sent to you, fill it out and return it to us. Weâll be in touch!
2. Call us on 0413 938 250 for more information about your kitty of choice.
3. If your application is successful, weâll make arrangements for you to visit our cats and kittens at our foster carerâs home
4. If your adoption is successful we ask that you pay the nominated fee to us in cash either at the adoption day or at the home visit. We do not accept eftpos, credit or debit card transactions or online banking transfers at this stage.
5. You will be provided with a folder of paperwork for your new kitty which will include a Central Animal Records Change of Ownership form that must be completed and paid by you ($15 fee applies) no later than four weeks after the adoption.
