About Sunooki ~ Adopted 7/3/19
Sunooki is a 7 year old Shar-Pei gal who has the zen and squishy face of Yoda and the endearingly sweet nature of Winnie the Pooh. Sunooki (also lovingly called Suki) is full to the brim with character and she just might be your spirit animal that you’ve been searching for.
Sunooki is as her name suggests - a total sook and a cuddly one at that. She builds very genuine and loving connections with her people - especially the ladies (she absolutely adores her foster mummy at her foster home). She will happily meet new people (both men and women) and will quickly become their friend.
Sunooki is a dream to walk - she ambles along on a loose lead at her own pace - rarely pulling (well unless of course she sees a pesky bird to chase). She is a very low maintenance girl when it comes to exercise (just like Pooh bear 😉) - she’s happy with a stroll around the block each day after which she’ll schedule in a snooze. She’s a total lounge-lizard and will happily sleep by your side or just hang out with you on those movie marathon evenings.
Between beauty sleeps Sunooki enjoys playing with her toys - she bounces around with them with a smile on her face and her perky ears bouncing too. She enjoys exploring her yard and evicting any birds that fly in. Sunooki isn’t a fence jumper or yard Harry Houdini as she’s just too content... and lazy... to jump the fences (4 foot plus is suitable height).
Sunooki is an angel with her adult people but she doesn’t play well with furry and feathered friends - she sees cats, birds and other pocket pets as tasty morsels - entree is served!! She is in foster care with two male Shar Pei’s and at first she was fine with them but now her interactions with them are like battle scenes from Star Wars. Sunooki wants to be the only dog in her family unit and feels the need to guard that position with the exuberance of Darth Vader. Needless to say she’s not the pooch who’d like to frequent the local dog park or dog beach with her new two legged family. She hasn’t had any exposure to young children so we are looking for a home without them.
Sunooki will require surgery on her eyes within the next year or two. Due to the folds of skin which characterise the Shar-Pei breed she has Entropion - this is a condition that is caused when the eyelids 'roll into' the eye resulting in the eyelashes scratching the surface of the eye. Sunooki’s new family will need to keep on top of her eye condition and have the monetary means to fund her surgery in future.
If you feel that Sunooki is the snuggle-bug Yoda that has been missing from your heart and home, then please contact us on email jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com .
She is in foster care in Coal Point (Newcastle / Lake Macquarie area) NSW. She is available for long distance adoption to the perfect family and subject to DRN’s approval.
Sunooki’s adoption fee is $300 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and micro chipping.

Like many Shar-Pei’s she has sensitive skin and ears that her new family will need to lovingly manage.

(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:

(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
