About Reggie
Reggie is just the best little boy. We have had a lot to do with him since he was born and know him very well. Over this time he has grown into a lovely gentle natured dog, who is very playful and dog friendly, a little shy of new humans but very happy to make friends, and very well behaved with excellent manners. He has been in foster care with 2 other dogs, one big and one small, who he adored. He is also used to older kids and very confident with them. He walks on or off the lead nicely, and is a very cooperative little guy - if he understands what you want him to do he will just do it without the need for treats and lots of reinforcement. Reggie loves to be inside with his human and doggie family, and particularly enjoys his couch time and air conditioning on a hot day. He is a lovely relaxed boy around the home and just a pleasure to have around.
Reggie came into care as a 2 week old pup after his mum was injured and rejected him and his litter mates. We took the pups into care and raised them up, and eventually sent them home , but the timing of his immunizations failed and he got parvovirus and had to return. Thankfully he survived, and eventually went back home again. But soon after he injured his leg and came back into care. His family surrendered him to us this time, as he needed time to convalesce. He has spent a couple of months in a family setting with one of our foster carers in Tennant Creek. Now he is back home in Elliott for a holiday before he goes home for good. Some lucky family is going to love this fabulous and handsome spotty pup!
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia.Reggie's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. Reggie is currently in foster care in Elliott NT.
Medical notes
Reggie contracted parvovirus as a puppy and his indigenous family asked us to care for him. Fortunately, with treatment, he recovered and was able to go home. A month or so after going home he went hunting with his mum and littermates and hurt his left hind leg. His family surrendered him back to us and he has been in foster in Tennant Creek for a few months while that injury repaired. The vet treated his injury as soft tissue, managed with anti-inflammatory medication and pain management. Over time he has regained full function. He is fully recovered now. After his various trials Reggie is now fit and ready for his forever home.
