About Ziggy | Absolutely Lovely Dog
Ziggy on YouTube https://youtu.be/p5wv1AviDrk
1) Generally
- Good with Other Friendly Dogs
- Not Good With Cats
- Good with Kids + 12 yrs due size and only if gentle and calm
- Toilet Trained
- Size 30 kgs
2) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Ziggy is friendly, loving, caring, obedient, loves to play, loves to walk and is eager to please.
He also enjoys playing fetch and responds well to recall.
Ziggy likes to feel safe, loved, cared for and secure. Other favourites include cuddles, pats, food, playing fetch, walks, and belly rubs.
This gentle fellow may cower if he hears an unexpected bang or raised voice. He enjoyed the company of his fur-sister, the adorable vizsla in the movie, until she sadly passed away and was once used by the RSPCA to help calm other anxious dogs.
As Ziggy is very smart he responds well to clear boundaries and established routines - these should help him settle into his new home more quickly.
3) Ideal Owner
Ziggy will suit active couples or singles looking for a companion dog.
He is currently living in harmony with a toddler however, he prefers a quiet, calm environment. Hence, we recommend a home without permanent kids.
While Ziggy prefers company he can cope alone - ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home.
Another permanent friendly, placid dog would be nice but is not essential. Ziggy has not been known to instigate an altercation but may possibly respond if challenged by another dog.
Ziggy will not suit homes with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Ziggy is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
He will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker or destructive.
5) Ziggy will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- part time workers.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as Ziggy is a central focus when folks are home - another friendly, placid dog would be nice but is not essential.
5) Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active. He needs daily walks and/or playtime.
6) When ON a lead ...
Well behaved.
7) When OFF a lead ...
Stays close by and comes when called - well, most of the time :-)
8) Type of Yard Required
- Medium to large interesting and secure.
- May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
- Ok with shoulder height fencing.
Located Wheelers Hill VIC 3150. Applicants within driving distance.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
