About Max
See Max On YouTube https://youtu.be/5k6Z2eTO0Tw
1) Generally
- Good with Other Dogs
- Not Good with Cats
- Good with Kids + 12 yrs (as excitable and may jump)
- Toilet Trained
- Size 21 kg
2) Ideal Owner
People regularly fall in love with Max frequently commenting how cute he is.
His new owner needs to be relatively active and able to handle a strong, happy dog. They will also need to be affectionate and doggy focused.
Max should be the only permanent dog in the home.
As Max is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters or time poor.
3) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
He is usually quiet and rarely makes a sound. Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
He will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers as long as someone is home more often than not.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
Max will be getting used to being without his life long friend, Rocky, and his human mum. So he will need someone around to help him transition.
4) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Max is excitable around other dogs - new friends may not understand this eagerness to play. Hence, his responsible owners currently let either Max or his mate, Rocky, off the lead one at a time.
Max - loyal, affectionate and good at alerting to strange noises. He is a little less 'needy' when it comes to cuddles but is still a loving, dependable little shadow.
He loves the water (beach, river etc), fetching balls, eating bones, eating in general, drives in the car and playing with the hose. He dislikes people raising their voices, being left alone for extended periods of time, temperature extremes and boredom.
5) Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active (can miss a daily walk).
6) When ON a lead ...
He is easy to walk and is obedient unless distracted - which is normal.
7) When OFF a lead ...
Sometimes good and sometimes bad - he usually stays close by but can get distracted by other dogs.
8) Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
