About Elvie
Elvie- approx 2yrs, Kelpie x
Loves- Car rides, walks, bones, snuggling on the lounge
Hates- Water, storms, lawn mowers and whipper snippers
Elvie arrived in care heavily pregnant after a 12 hr road trip. Her babies were born a week later. Elvie has now raised her pups and is very keen to just be a loved family member. She is a wonderful little lady, approx 2yrs old and under 17kg. She has a slender frame, delicate features, a lovely coat that needs little grooming and the most beautiful amber eyes.
Elvie wants to be your full time companion and is always happy to see you but has never got upset or destructive when left alone. She just waits patiently and greets you with the happiest waggiest butt you could imagine. She is not a licker and rarely jumps up. She likes to snuggle at bed time but then goes off to sleep in her own bed. She is perfectly house trained and about the only time you will hear a noise out of her is when she needs to be let out.
Elvie has spent time with a variety of other dogs since her puppies have grown and tends to be quite submissive with larger dogs, tolerant of young dogs but has not spent much time with smaller breeds. She has not been cat tested but was completely disinterested when she met a goat. She has excellent recall, especially as she has only been "Elvie" for 2 months. She needs a little lead work, but only because the world is so new and exciting for her so she gets distracted. Elvie has missed out on the very basic training and trying to catch her up is difficult with the puppies but she is quite food orientated and very smart so training should be easy. Elvie does get upset if she thinks she is in trouble, occasionally loud noises or unexpected big movements will scare her.
Whilst she has never shown any inclination to leave the yard she would definitely be able to get over shorter fences if she wanted to so 6" colourbond is recommended. Elvie does not like storms and will hide at the first rumbles of thunder but provided she has a safe place to be she settles quickly.
Adoption details
In the ENQUIRY SECTION please explain in LENGTH some basics about yourself/ your life/ your household and what type of life you can provide for one of our rescue animals.
If successful, you would be contacted by phone, where we will talk about your enquiry and potentially organise a meet and greet between you/ your dogs/ your family and the potential candidate
From there, you can either take your animal with you if the meet and greet was successful and their vet work has been completed- or if the vet work hasn't been completed, you must wait until it's finished before taking your new friend home which will be organised between yourself and the foster carer.
Every animal has a 2 week trial period.
