On Hold
About Minty
I AM ON HOLD AS I HAVE A POTENTIAL HOME. Hi I’m Minty. I’ve had a rotten start in life, but I was rescued this year from the awful puppy farm I lived at. Things have been looking up ever since I was rescued and now I’m actually feeling good enough to start searching for my forever family. I’ll tell you a bit about myself...
I really like dogs, I live with a Labrador and another little fluffy like myself at my foster home and I’m not bothered at all by my foster families cat either, I even let him share my bed in winter. I really must have other dogs in my home, that is a must, so please don't apply if you don't have friendly dogs like me. I wouldn't suit children in the home I am sorry but I would be afraid of them. I am an early riser, so if you want an alarm clock I am your girl, but if you like sleeping in, don't pick me.
I’ve not had much human contact in my life, so I was really afraid of being touched by people, I would never bite, but I’d freeze up and try to run away from them. I’m much better now and actually quite enjoy a good rub on the head and chest. I’ll let you pick me up to if you need to. I like car rides, and I really like going out in my pram, so my new family will need to have a pram for me so I can go for walks and to the beach and to Bunnings and Petbarn! It’s all so much fun! My legs aren’t much good from years of living in a cage, so I can’t walk long distances, but I can go anywhere in my pram! Check out my videos if you scroll through my pictures you will find them all.
Speaking of my legs, I also can’t walk up and downstairs, I’m just not strong enough, so I’ll need a home with easy access to the yard. I love the yard - I sniff everything and it makes me so happy my tail wags. Most of the day though, I prefer to nap and I’m a very quiet girl who will just sit and observe what’s going on around me. I get excited for my dinner too - I love chicken especially!
I have a few medical issues:
Firstly I’m deaf and I was suffering from recurring ear infections but a simple squirt of Otoflush once a week and a quick ear massage has been keeping my ears clean and healthy.
I also have cataracts which have impaired my vision. I can see, but just not too far into the distance.
My legs have osteoarthritis and I’m on daily pain relief for this.
I recently had a big dental and lost most of my teeth! So I’m a bit gummy now and can only eat soft food. Did I mention I really like chicken?
When I first came from the puppy farm, I spent some time at the Shelter and I had an operation to strip some mammory tumours, but that’s all good now. I also had some slightly elevated liver enzymes, so I have milk thistle drops to help support my liver.
Despite all of this I have a good quality of life and I really enjoy going for rides in the car and in my pram, it's lots of fun. If you are interested in me read my info also below, that will tell you what my ongoing medication costs will be. Then if that is ok, fill out an expression of interest in me, you will find the link further down the page also. Thanks for reading my story, I hope to see you soon.
