About Cade
This gorgeous boy is super smart and loves to learn. Keen on training, as to him it just means more one on one time with you. He already has basic manners and is happy to learn more.
Cade is extremely friendly with anyone and gets confused and a tad upset if a human walks by and doesn't stop to pat him. A super sweet boy, he loves snuggling with you on the couch and will even paw at you when he wants attention and you've stopped rubbing his tummy! He loves both genders but seems to gravitate more naturally towards men.
With that said, if he senses a threat - he stands in front of you in protective mode. His resulting bark, if he feels it's needed, is extremely deep and enough to wake the dead. He's also a great alert dog at home and will let you know if something is amiss.
Extremely food motivated (with human affection a very close second), Cade is happy to eat practically anything with his favourites being salmon & sardines. He has no resource guarding over food and does this really cute "Oliver Twist' thing where he will tell you he wants more food by holding his empty bowl between his teeth!! So cute.
Still a puppy, Cade can get over excited easily but it's just as easy to bring him down and he'll respond to an "AGH" very well. Young children are quite exciting, so if in a family with young ones, will need to learn to be gentle and calmer around them.
Absolutely perfect with all dogs he has met (on lead) including ankle biters. The first to play bow, then look at me like I'm the meanest person on the planet when I don't let him play (due to his healing leg). Prior to the break, he was happy to meet and play with other dogs and enjoys a good game of rumble or tuggy.
Cade travels well in the car and will just lay down and sleep or just look out the window. he's also house trained, crate trained and had no reaction to the recent violent storms, so can be super chilled if in the right home.
He would suit an active family who is keen to tap into, and work more on his intelligence. He will have to be kept mentally stimulated at least as when boredom sets in he becomes destructive. No interest in any squeaky or enrichment toys, so will need a family that has the time and commitment to put in good old fashioned training and exercise and will need time, patience and love.
He would ideally suit a home with another high energy friend to play with and someone home most days. Cade is driven by routine and as he is maturing the natural "protective of my family" breed trait is becoming more prevalent.
We will be preferencing breed experienced homes that understand his need for mental and physical stimulation, along with love and support and are willing to make him an integral part of the family. Whilst a great alert dog, this boy is not on offer as a guard dog and must be a family member with all the same privileges (sleeping inside, couch time, love and cuddles).
If you believe you will make an awesome family for this special boy, then please apply by completing the adoption enquiry form via our Fetching Dogs website as the next step.
Medical notes
Cade broke his hind leg recently and had specialist surgery. Luckily, it didn't impact his growth plates at all and he has made a good recovery. He is in the last stages of recovery so will need gentle, muscle building exercise for a few more weeks before anything too strenuous can occur, just to get his muscle strength up.There are no ongoing issues and this should not affect his ongoing health.
Rehab like swimming would be a great option for him too. He'll need a very good quality diet to keep his bones strong and healthy moving forward.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
