Izzy

Thank you for adopting our sweet Izzy, she will be an amazing part of your family. When Izzy arrived at the shelter, she was diagnosed with an ear infection in her left ear, and unfortunately has had a reaction to the ear medication which has caused some mild damage to the nerves behind the left eye. This makes the left eye pupil appear smaller than normal, and also makes the third eye lid cover the eye more than normal. We have attempted multiple different treatments to try and resolve this, and although we had mild response, it has never really resolved the issue properly. The condition at this point is not painful, however it is uncertain how it affects Izzy's hearing and vision in the left eye. We recommend keeping Izzy fully indoor to ensure her reduced vision doesn't impact her safety. There is a good possibility that as the nerve attempts to heal on its own, that the eye may normalise in the next 2-3 months, however there is also a possibility that the nerve damage may be permanent. Please seek immediate veterinary care if the eye ever looks red, swollen, or if Izzy appears distressed by the eye.
