About Captain Von Trapp
Be still my beating heart.
If you have been waiting for a tall dark and handsome man to sweep you off your feet, then look no further. Captain von Trapp will do just that... almost literally, as he spends so much time rubbing round and round and round your ankles!
Rather like his namesake in The Sound of Music, this big guy presents a tough exterior and when he first came into care he was not very friendly at all - but now he has come bursting out of his shell and is actually a giant squishy marshmallow of a cat who just wants to be patted all day long non-stop.
Affectionately known as Captain, Cappy, VT, slappy and handsome lad, this dude has lots of personality. He has been a stray cat for a long time - maybe even his whole life! - so he is still jumpy and easily startled and he's got a quirky personality. But now that he has realised how great it is to live with people, he can't get enough.
A home with no small children is recommended, simply because kids generally like to pick cats up, carry them around and be all over them. While Captain ADORES pats, he is still unsure of being picked up and held - he's definitely getting the hang of it and will snuggle into his foster mum's neck when she picks him up now, but he won't tolerate very lengthy hugs and cuddles and will start to get very restless. If you have kids in the home who can be respectful of this, then he would definitely be fine with them!
Captain loves other cats and is extremely gentle with them. He would definitely be happy to live with other cats, but would also be okay on his own. He has also had exposure to dogs and would be fine with cat-friendly pooches.
In his time on the streets, Captain contracted FIV, feline immunodeficiency virus. You can read more about it here:

He's a very healthy fella but his FIV status does mean he will need to be an indoor kitty. He's totally fine with this and loves being inside in your company!
Captain has really stolen the hearts of his foster family. He's generally a great cat who deserves an amazing life. Please don't pass him by!
(A note on FIV - it IS transmissable to other cats but ONLY in cases of extreme fighting where blood is exchanged between both parties involved. The virus is ONLY passed through blood and semen, not any other bodily fluids. Because Captain is so sociable with other cats, the likelihood of him spreading the virus around now that he is castrated, is very minimal. He is living with FIV negative cats in foster care and is absolutely fine.)
