About Dre
Hi! My name is Dre and I am so excited to be finally looking for my forever home! When the ladies at AdoptADane first rescued me, I was in a really bad condition, I had a giant hole in my face where you could see through to my jaw and teeth. After many long vet visits and surgeries you can hardly tell, I only have a tiny scar! My life beforehand was not a fun one, I was locked in a dog run and had no interaction with the outside world. My wonderful carer has opened her home to me, and looked after me so well. I will be sad to leave her, but I know I have to head out into the world. I am currently an only dog as I needed some serious care and one on one attention. I have met some dogs and as long as they are nice and mellow and don't scare me, I am fine. Because I have spent a lot of time being on my own, I would need to ensure that any dogs in my new home are fed separately as I have never had to share things such as food. In my previous home, I wasn't good with other male dogs, however, I have met a mellow male dog and I was fine.
I am still a young pup at heart and get very excited when my mum comes home from work! She is my favourite human! I am not suited to a home with cats and small pets as my previous home had me locked away for chasing the little animals. My only downfall is that I need SECURE 6 foot fencing! Preferably colourbond, where there is nothing for me to climb. Growing up on a regional property there wasn't fencing and I was just put in the run when I was 'in the way'. If I had a human who was home a lot, that would be fantastic! Especially because I can escape when my humans leave, I just want to be by their side 24/7.
I have so much love to give and I am making up for lost time. I am finally learning how to eat properly, since I was unable to use my jaw and I am finally feeling good. I now know I don't have to worry about being locked away, I don't have to worry when my next meal will be and I don't have to worry that any injuries will be left to the point of serious infection, I now have awesome humans looking out for me.
I can be a bit nervous when meeting people at first, but warm up quickly. I really look forward to my new life and finding my very own human. If you think that is you, please fill out an online adoption application:
