About Otis
Otis is a very sweet puppy who is eager to learn and please. He is sharing his foster home with an older resident dog - he loves her company and has bonded to her very quickly. She is teaching him manners in play and social interaction and he is gradually learning how to play nicely.
Otis also loves to be with people, he very much wants human company and to be right in the middle of what you are doing, and although initially excited to see his human he is learning to relax and accept strokes and cuddles in a much calmer way. Otis has been learning to sit, stay and wait for his dinner - he picks up instruction quickly and is very food motivated. Otis is also housetrained but may have an accident if left inside for too long.
Otis is a typical pup who loves to play and will amuse himself with his toys, he loves tug o' rope and will run for the ball. Otis has previously lived with cats and although a bit chatty around them he could live with a dog savvy cat with careful introduction.
Otis is a high energy puppy due to his part Kelpie heritage and will require sufficient exercise and mental stimulation as he grows to keep him active, healthy and happy. Otis is very eager to meet and play with other dogs so it will be very important to continue to socialise him - we would recommend taking him to puppy classes where he will not only be socialised but will also learn basic commands and boundaries.
Otis would suit a home with older children as he is still learning not to jump up, or a home with a dog for company. We would not recommend a home where he is left all day alone during work hours. Otis would greatly benefit from having company for at least part of the day to reinforce positive behaviours and confidence.
