About Mason
Mason is a Kelpie cross, possibly with a Rottweiler or American Staffy as he is quite a large boy. He is a friendly and outgoing boy who loves cuddles: pat him once and you have a friend for life! Mason knows basic commands and is good with people. In the yard he loves to play chasey, tug-o-war or fetch - never drops the toy, but very gentle with you when you take it from him. He is house trained (will wake you if he needs to go outside in the night) and much prefers being inside where his human is, to being outside alone. He won't bark at regular visitors but is a good guard dog with strangers.
Mason enjoys his walks and he also likes playing games in his yard; he loves doing zoomies with you chasing. He is quite strong on lead but walks well wearing a halti/harness. He does like to chomp on items if left around, so when you are out, we suggest some enrichment toys (such as a Kong or puzzle toy with treats in, a frozen block for him to keep cool and enjoy licking, etc) and he also loves soft toys.
Mason could be rather protective of his food bowl at meal times when he came to us. (He would however take treats gently from your hand with no problems). He has improved a great deal with some positive reinforcement and with the trust he has built with his carer, but we believe he would still be best in a home without children under the age of 12 who might accidentally get too close to him when eating his dinner.
Mason likes most other dogs and wants to play with them... he can be a little pushy so would best suit a less dominant dog with a relaxed nature who won't get grumpy at Mason's rather persistent personality. We think he would love a home with another dog for company when his people have to go out, as he enjoys playing and gets lonely on his own. Feed times would most likely need to be separate just in case but other than that he would love having a buddy in the household.
Mason likes trips in the car and tends to stand up rather than sit, so he can supervise the driving! He does not seem to like water very much so is not much of a beach bum!
Mason is a happy, loyal and clever boy. He would love a home of his own; could that be you?
