About India
India (Indie) is a little chihuahua with a big personality! Even though she is 9 years old she still has plenty of "get up and go". She is very good around other dogs and doesn't mind cats either.
The Chihuahua is one of the most dynamic and misunderstood dog breeds in existence. They’re sort of the ‘love em’ or hate em’’ dog which are adored by many, and nuisances to others. Their fragile bodies are no obstacle for their stubborn and confident demeanor. These little canines think the world of themselves, and often lack the ability to discern their own size from that of other (always larger) canines.
Often a one-person dog, the Chihuahua’s one quest in life is to love and be loved unconditionally. They’re full of enthusiasm and can adapt to nearly any living environment.
Despite their physicality, these dogs can be resilient...some live to be twenty years old, which few other breeds have the stamina for.
We would like to place Indie with someone who has had experience with the Chihuahua breed and understands them. She is not suited to be around children of any age as she has never been introduced to them. All vaccinations (including kennel cough) are current.
Indie has had a full medical and will require vet checks probably 2-3 times a year. She has had her teeth cleaned and one minor tooth extracted.
Indie will require secure premises, good fencing and a small yard. She loves going for her daily walks and is happy with a short outing twice a day.
Indi's coat doesn't moult - she just loses a little fur when brushed; however, a daily brushing is recommended.
Should you wish to know more about little India (Indie) please phone Nigel on (02) 6584 4992.
Medical notes
Medium grade heart murmur. Medical issues will be discussed with prospective applicants.
Weight as of 12/12/18 is 4.9 kg
Adoption details
The first step is to phone or email Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. for assessment regarding prospective ownership and pet suitability.
Adoption Application forms must be completed.
A property inspection will be carried out on properties in the Port Macquarie area so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you’ve selected. Proof of home ownership will be required. If renting your home, a letter from the owner’s agent confirming that the pet is allowed will be required.
A 2 week trial period commences on the day of adoption. If, for any reason, the dog is returned to Midcoast Dog Rescue within the trial period, the total adoption fee paid will be refunded.
All Midcoast Dog Rescue animals come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated (up to date), vet checked ,wormed, flea and tick treated.
.......................
Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. is trying to expand its foster carer network so that we can help more dogs in need. This is a very rewarding experience and suits a variety of people. Some people, for whatever reason, are unable to make a permanent commitment to a dog, a commitment which can last for up to 15 years. Others use the fostering experience as an interim measure before committing to permanently owning a dog. If you think you could be interested in becoming a foster carer, either on a long-term or a short-term basis, and would like more information please contact Nigel on 6584 4992 or Wendy on 6584 7027.
