About Strider ~ GSP (on trial 26/1/19)
This handsome boy is Strider. He is a 4 year old German Shorthaired Pointer who is not only a looker but is the most friendly boy. Strider is great in the car and loves going places with his humans. He is a very playful and happy dog who loves his walks and trips to the beach where he enjoys swimming in the waves. Strider walks well with a harness and lead, and is used to at least a 30 minute walk per day. This routine will need to continue with his new family. He already knows how to sit, stay, come and shake hands. As Strider has a tendency to jump up to say “hello”, ongoing training would be recommended. Being that he is very food oriented he would respond well to treat related training. Strider is used to off-leash areas and has a good recall.
Strider is very dog social and as such will need to go to a home with another doggy companion. He bonds very quickly to other dogs and will sleep side by side on the same dog bed as his sibling. He is good with dogs of all sizes. Strider would not be suited to pocket pets or cats. Due to the strong hunting instinct that comes with the breed, Strider is not suitable in a yard with rabbits, birds or chickens.
Strider has been an outside dog and is used to sleeping in a kennel with his doggy best friend. He is not toilet trained, however being that he is an intelligent boy it would not take long to train him. Due to his size and agility, 1.8m high fences are recommended to keep him safe in the yard. Strider is neither a digger nor a barker but he would be best suited for a family where someone is home a lot.
Strider has been in contact with children of all ages but due to his excitable nature, he would be best suited to a family with children over the age of 10. He is a very lovable character and adores all people and dogs. This happy boy would make the best playmate and the ideal companion to go on adventures with.
