About Wilson 🐒
This big lovable goofball is Wilson.....he's almost 2 years old and a beautiful Wolfhound mix.
Unfortunately, Wilson has never had stability in his life. He's lived in apartments, on farms, in suburban homes and foster homes, and with every move he's had, his anxiety has intensified.
Wilson has previously been rehomed with other dogs and his anxiety seems to be quite extreme when in this situation, so we are looking for a home where Wilson can be your one and only at this stage. He would also need the company of his humans alot, so would be perfect for someone working from home. He has been tested in this environment and was quite a chilled out boy, often lazing at the carers feet whilst they worked.
We are looking for a home and family that have experience with large and difficult breeds. He will need ongoing training in his new home, so you will need to be confident with becoming pack leader from day 1.
Although he can be an active boy, Wilson is also capable of being calm when he's feeling safe and secure. To help settle him when he came back into care, he wore a 'Thundershirt anxiety jacket' which certainly helped with the barking issues.
Wilson is currently undergoing a 3 week Enhanced Obedience Training Program which is focusing on the following.....Basic manners when greeting people and dogs in a calm and friendly way, Sit stay and drop on lead, Recall on lead, walking on a loose lead, basic socialisation, aggression, drive and fear/anxiety related issues.
Included in this Program, are 2 follow up complimentary lessons for his new lucky owners and also lifetime ongoing phone and email advice from Canine Evolution.
Wilson adores kids and is very gentle around them. He also LOVES cats and would be happy enough to share his home with them. During his stay at Terrigal Pet Resort (Obedience Training), they have been working on his reactivity to other dogs and he does seem to be much better around smaller dogs than larger ones. They are gradually getting him closer to other dogs when training and although it's been a slow process, he is definitely feeling alot more comfortable and focusing on the trainer, rather than the other dog.
Hoping for a dog already Toilet Trained? You're in luck! Wilson is fully toilet trained and quite calm when inside the home. He would NOT cope well with being an outside only dog.
Wilson is strong minded and has developed bad habits up to this point in his life. We cannot stress enough that this boy NEEDS someone that is committed to continue on with his training. However the dog/family member you will have at the end of the day will be truly amazing! He has a very special soul and melts the heart of everyone that meets him.
This gorgeous boy will be ready to head off to his forever home on Saturday 24th August, once his training program is complete. A meet and greet can most certainly be arranged prior to this date. Location - Terrigal on the Central Coast NSW.

Adoption details
If you would like to express interest in adopting, we ask that you send through some info about yourself, your family and home, if you rent or own (rental agreement required if renting and rates notice required if you own) and what you can offer this gorgeous baby. Our aim is to find the best homes for our babies, not necessarily first in best dressed, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest.
Once we have received your email outlining the above, those who we feel may be suitable, will be sent an Adoption Questionnaire to complete. Your enquiry will then be passed onto the appropriate carer and successful applicants will be contacted via phone.
