About Toby and Georgie ~ Labradors (on trial 28/12/18)
Toby and Georgie are a 7 year old male Chocolate Lab X and 6.5 year old female Yellow Lab looking for a new home together. Their family is moving overseas and couldn’t find a home in the new location that also allows for pets. As they grew up together, they are like brother and sister. They live in each other’s shadow, sleep together and where you see the one, the other is never far away. Especially Toby gets very distressed when separated from Georgie for any length of time.
Toby is very active and loves to play and run. His favorite activities are playing ball, tug of war, walking and running off leash in an open space. The first thing he will bring to you when you open him up in the morning is his rope or a ball. Georgie is a bit less active, but equally enjoys a walk or a run but loves being in water above any other activity. She would rather swim than walk from A to B.
Toby is very gentle and laid back and a bit placid, not at all dominant. Encountering other dogs he would just sniff and move on, and he is just great with children. He is the most gentle and kind dog who adores love and affection of any kind, and follows his human like a shadow. He is a bit of a sensitive soul, and shows rejection easily. He would do anything to please. When you sit down he would lie at, or preferably rest his head on your feet and despite his size would get on the couch if given any hint that he is allowed to. He is very obedient to his name and adheres to the basic commands, however is a bit strong when taken for a walk. Due to his placid, non-aggressive personality he doesn’t like confrontation and would surrender his treat or food to Georgie. Feeding times should therefore preferably be supervised. Toby has a sensitive stomach and only certain dog food brands are recommended.
Georgie is equally loving and caring, and loves to come up for a rub or scratch on the back. She is a bit more resilient than Toby, and bounces back more easily. She is a very caring and nursing dog and very protective of Toby and her human family and their territory. When strangers are in your presence she would just sniff them out and come for a pat, however if they are still outside the door expect her to bark at them. She has however never attacked or bitten anyone. She equally gets along well with children, and would follow young children around in a casual way, ready to lick or sniff and comfort them at the slightest sign of distress. While children can rub her coat and play with her, she is a bit less tolerant of excessive attention and noise and would as Toby get up and walk away if attention by children or any other person is not to her liking. As with Toby she would follow you wherever you go, and would lie down close by from where she can still see you. She is also obedient to her name, acknowledges the basic commands and is somewhat better on a leash than Toby. She gets a bit excited at feeding times and when greeting you in the morning or when you return home, and may bump into you accidently. She just loves food of any kind and would continue eating as long as there is food in front of her. Weight control therefore is a bit of a challenge for her and should be monitored.
While they are currently outside dogs, they grew up in the family home and both are very well house trained. If indoors and a door is not open, they would tell you if they want to go outside. Both are gentle and loving and would return any love in abundance and are just looking for a family or someone they can love and spoil in their doggie way.
