About Willow DB390
Meet Willow.
Willow had a hard start to life, taken with her siblings, away from their mother at 1 week old, they were dumped and left for dead by a water hole up North.
The whole litter were hand raised by one of our carers, with help from their family and friends, and grew into gorgeous healthy pups. All her sisters and brothers are now in their forever homes, yet beautiful Willow is still looking. Her exact breed is unknown, but she definitely has Sharpei and Heeler. Both these breeds are known for their protective traits. Willow bonds strongly with one person, usually female, and has high resource guarding tendencies. She shows no food resource guarding, it is her human she protects. When her carer is confident and capable, her guarding is easily handled and she can live peacefully amongst other animals.
She is the most sensitive of the litter, and, although she grew up with dogs, has shown some anxiety around new dogs. Once introduced, she does love to play and gets along well with others. Willow is hugely reliant on her human and wants to be with you (a side effect of being hand-reared). She will seek reassurance in certain situations, and her new owner has to be strong enough to ensure she feels safe and to guide her through her anxious moments. In return, this stunning girl will love you like no other.
We are looking for someone with experience of the Sharp Pei breed and their traits. She needs someone who will work with her to overcome her fears and have the time to spend with her, socialising her and continuing her training. Willow is smart and food motivated so learns quickly. She is very loving and sweet.
Once introduced to new people she is fine, and is happiest either at your feet, or beside you on the couch or bed! Ideally, Willow should not be left for hours alone, this will increase her anxiety. So someone home, or working from home would suit best. At this stage we are unsure if she should be an only dog, but she could also benefit hugely from the stability of an older balanced male companion.
Willow has also lived with cats with no problem.
