About Simba
Hi I'm Simba and I am six years old. When I am with you I am a happy little guy who loves to curl up in your lap and follow you to bed if you let me. I will be friends with everyone who comes to your home, or, who you take me to visit.
I didn't live with another dog but am now fostered with one and things are going fine. Once I make friends then I've made friends. It's better if we can get to know each other off lead though. I like to go for walks but if I get distracted I develop this funny thing called 'selective deafness'.
I am very good at doing all those odd things humans ask me to like, sit, lay down and shake for treats. I don't know what they are for but I am happy to oblige. Like lots of dogs, I do not like storms and fireworks but fi you are with me I can be calmer.
So now to the reason I am looking for a new home in middle age. My family were so important to me that I started to get scared when they went anywhere. So when I got scared, I could smell that they were scared and that meant I got more scared, so that in the end, I ran out of the house and into the car and then I used my angry voice to say, 'Please don't leave me alone.' I can even scale low fences to try to find you so you will need to have a very secure yard to keep me safe.
My family were really sad to let me go but they knew they couldn't help me and want me to be happy so now I am looking for you. You need to be home almost all the time. You need to want me close to you a lot! It's not healthy for me to be so scared so you also need to be able to leave me when you have to and maybe do some learning about how to reduce my fear. You need to not be scared if I use my angry voice when I am scared.
If you can do these things then we can be best friends and spend lots of wonderful times together keeping each other loved and happy.
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
